Klooster recognized for his leadership at INFORM Studio and contributions to architecture across the region.

DETROIT, August 7, 2026 – INFORM Studio, a Detroit-based architecture and engineering firm with offices in Detroit, Northville, and Chicago, announces that Eric Klooster, AIA, a Principal at the firm, has received the AIA Detroit’s Young Architect Award. The award honors emerging leaders shaping the future of architecture through design excellence, leadership, and innovation.

Klooster has been with INFORM Studio since 2015, helping guide the firm’s growth as it has taken on increasingly complex projects across Southeast Michigan and beyond. He currently leads the firm’s integrated design efforts, bringing together architects, engineers, and technology specialists to collaborate more closely from the earliest stages of a project.

“Eric represents a new generation of architectural leadership,” said Gina Van Tine, President of INFORM Studio. “His ability to bring people and ideas together is shaping not only our work but also the future of our profession here in Michigan and beyond.”

With over two decades of experience, Klooster has contributed to a diverse portfolio spanning civic, cultural, residential, and urban-scale projects. His work is grounded in the belief that integrated design processes can yield more responsive, efficient, and impactful outcomes, both spatially and socially.

“I am truly honored to receive this recognition from AIA Detroit,” said Klooster. “While this award is a deeply meaningful milestone in my architectural career, it reflects the supportive, design-driven culture we’ve built at INFORM Studio. I am excited to apply what we’ve learned to advance our mission and elevate the impact of our future work.”

Klooster’s recognition adds to a strong period of momentum for INFORM Studio. The firm was named AIA Michigan Firm of the Year in 2025 and received a 2025 AIA National Small Project Award for the Roger Williams Park Gateway & Visitor Center. INFORM Studio was also recognized this year as one of Crain’s Detroit Business Best Places to Work, highlighting the firm’s commitment to building an exceptional workplace alongside award-winning design.
